LGBTQIA+ Therapy in Boulder, CO

Navigate real-world challenges as your true self

As a cisgender gay man, I bring both professional training and many years of lived experience to my work as an LGBTQ therapist. While no two people share the same journey, I understand many of the cultural, social, and emotional dynamics that can shape LGBTQIA+ lives. My goal is to provide thoughtful, respectful, and evidence-based care in a way that feels safe, affirming, and grounded.

My approach to LGBT therapy is grounded in contemporary affirmative therapy models. I view LGBTQIA+ identities as healthy and natural expressions of human diversity. I do not approach therapy as a way to change or suppress identity. Instead, I support you in integrating your identity into a fuller sense of self while navigating real-world challenges.

Identity development and affirmation

For many people, LGBT counseling begins with exploring questions about identity. Sexual orientation and gender identity can evolve over time, and you may seek support as you work to better understand yourself.

You may also want support navigating the complex and vulnerable process of coming out. Together, we work to reduce internalized stigma and cultivate self-compassion.

Relationships and couples therapy

Relationships are central to well-being, and I work with individuals and couples who want to strengthen their partnerships.

I offer LGBT couples therapy for partners who want to improve communication, navigate conflict, or deepen emotional intimacy.

LGBTQIA+ couples may face additional stressors, including:

  • Differences in coming-out timelines

  • Family acceptance or rejection

  • Social stigma

  • Intersections of identity

In LGBT therapy, we focus on communication, empathy, and deeper understanding.

Some couples come during times of crisis, while others want to build a stronger foundation. My role is to help you build a relationship that feels aligned with your values.

Family relationships and chosen family

Family dynamics can be complex. In LGBT counseling, we may work on navigating coming out, processing rejection, or improving communication.

I also recognize the importance of chosen family. Supportive friendships and community connections can provide stability and belonging.

Together, we explore ways to strengthen these relationships and build meaningful support systems.

Community, belonging, and connection

I believe connection is essential to well-being. Finding an affirming community can be a powerful protective factor.

In LGBT therapy, we may explore ways to reduce isolation, build confidence, and deepen relationships. You may want to engage more with LGBTQIA+ communities or simply feel less alone.

I support you in cultivating belonging and meaningful connection.

Empowerment and authentic living

A central goal of LGBT therapy is empowerment. I help you build confidence in living authentically and making values-aligned decisions.

Together, we focus on:

  • Strengthening autonomy

  • Building boundaries

  • Increasing self-efficacy

This is a collaborative process aimed at helping you live with greater authenticity and resilience.
